Alert! More Nuclear Power Bills Scheduled for Senate Hearing Of the 13 pro-nuclear power bills in the Oregon Legislature, two were heard in the House Energy Committee last week. The Chair allowed a good deal of pro-nuclear testimony and very little anti-nuclear testimony, telling us to submit written testimony. The written testimony was far more opposed to nuclear power than supportive of it. So far no work session on these bills has been scheduled. Now three more of these bills are scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Energy Committee this coming Wednesday, March 5th at 3 pm. They are SB 215, SB 216 and SB 635. See below for brief details. Visit OLIS, the Oregon Legislative Information Service, for the bill texts and to register to submit testimony against these bills, either oral or written, or both. You can submit written testimony on these bills until Friday, March 7th at 3 pm. Oregon PeaceWorks is partnering with the Oregon Conservancy Foundation, the Stop Nuclear Work Group and others to turn out as many voices in opposition to these bills as possible. Please consider submitting testimony opposing these bills. |
